Previously they were allowed to hunt sans leash. No longer, since I "lost" Joey. Searching for a 9 inch dachshund, with zero recall, in 36 inch grass on 12 acres was heartstopping. Actually he was lost for less than 5 minutes, and I had a pretty good idea of which area he was in. But he did have access to 12 acres, so...

The Dachshunds

Perhaps you have noticed the dachshunds have not had much face time on the blog. Of course it is not that I prefer the big dogs over the little dogs. It is just that the little dogs have issues with the camera. They don't like to be still, or even look in the direction of the camera. So you can definitely forget about cute poses!
